Mentor verification

Every mentor on Luminao must sign up with an official .edu email address issued by their university. This ensures all mentors are real, currently enrolled college students. We do not allow alumni, external tutors, or non-students.

On-platform sessions

All sessions happen inside the Luminao platform via built-in video calling. Students and mentors never need to share personal phone numbers, social media handles, or email addresses. This keeps both parties safe and accountable.

Academic integrity

Mentors help students find their voice, structure their ideas, and improve their writing — the same role a school counselor or English teacher might play. Mentors do not write essays for students. All mentors agree to our academic integrity policy at sign-up.

Secure payments

All payments are processed by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment providers. We never store your full card details. Transactions are encrypted end-to-end.

Data privacy

We collect only the information necessary to run the platform. We do not sell personal data to third parties. Sessions are recorded only with explicit consent, and recordings are stored securely and accessible only to the session participants.

Reporting & accountability

If you ever feel uncomfortable with a session, you can report it directly from the platform. We review all reports within 24 hours and take immediate action including mentor removal if necessary.
